Baby Why, Jesse Lynch – Lafayette, CO 2011

Posted by admin on March 21st, 2011

We finally have some new video to get up on the blog. It’s a lot harder to get good video now that my videographer (husband) is always holding the baby, but we did have a sitter for this one and walked away with at least one clip that was a keeper. With the Buffalo Springfield Tour this year, this may be one of very few times the RFB gets to play. Here is Baby Why at Nissi’s in Lafayette, CO:

Copper Country Music Festival 2010

Posted by admin on September 6th, 2010

The Copper Country Music Festival was a blast again this year. Great weather and it was nice not being pregnant as I was for the festival last year. It was great seeing Chris and Herb again and the Desert Rose Band sounded great. Here are a few pics that Mike Gallivan took of us from the festival:

Thanks for posting the great pics Mike!

Precious moment with my new girl

A blessing is born

Brooklyn Rae Lynch came into this world at 1:01 pm MT. She weighed 6 lbs. 12 ounces at 20 inches long. This pristine, snowy white day in Louisville, Colorado was the perfect day for our little “long-legged woman” to be born. The Lord has pretty amazing timing. Here’s a quick video clip.

Prego in Boulder

These is some video from what will be my last time on stage before becoming a mommy. It was at the Nissi’s gig on January 2nd. The sound quality of the recording isn’t the greatest as it doesn’t seem to get the whole mix and certain elements stand out louder than they actually did in the house mix.

Aside from the production quality of this clip the show was a blast we had some great moments with a few “what the heck just happened” moments mixed in. One of those what the heck moments was halfway into a song when my pa was trying to figure out why everything had suddenly become a lot louder when he finally realized that he hadn’t turned his peddle back on. Love you papa! :0) That was pretty funny. I had some nice funny moments myself, boy vocal support gets a little tricky when you’re almost 8 months pregnant. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Nashville sessions

Posted by admin on July 3rd, 2009

After church on Sunday is when our journey began. We landed in Nashville around 5 pm and met up with Emily and Mark Volman for dinner at the Sunset Grill. Dirks Bentley popped in for a bottle of wine while we were there, was kind of a funny moment. Mark took us on a quick tour of Nashville which is actually not very big. We went through the downtown strip with all the clubs, which is only about a 5 block strip, and then went through music row of course. It was all pretty exciting just because of what was ahead and the anticipation of the studio project we were there to create.

Jesse Furay Lynch arrives in Nashville!

After a great night’s sleep we got to the studio around 9:30 am and the work began. Meeting all the guys was a blast. Just being part of this experience and seeing how beautifully they can play a song just by some quick number charts and a tempo was fascinating and was a real education. The music just comes to life and turns into what you had imagined it could sound like in a perfect world. These guys are the real deal! At 5 pm when most people’s work day is over we began the overdub sessions with Dan Dugmore and just let him run free for a while on some steel guitar parts. At the end of the day we walked away very excited, blessed, inspired and still a little bit nervous about how we would tie everything together the following day. Between my dad’s production direction of country/rock leanings and my more country/bluesy style we were winding up with something pretty cool and inspiring. It all went by pretty fast.

That night we went to see The Players which is the band that Michael plays in and man were we all impressed. The Players, NashvilleThe band consists of some of the best studio players in Nashville and boy howdy does it show, we had a blast.

The second day of sessions were mostly overdubs with the incredibly talented Chris Leuzinger (Guitar) and Hank Singer (Fiddle). Chris really helped us tie together all the loose ends, finding and filling any gaps in songs and helping us find the direction we were looking for. Chris hears things that of course I never would have heard like adding in a baritone guitar double on one song and playing his patented high string guitar fill on another song. Hank came in and played fiddle on three of the songs. In particular he played a fiddle lick in the chorus of a song written by Alan Lemke which was exactly how we’d imagined it and exactly where we wanted it. We just let him rip expecting to go back and then adapt what we wanted with what he did but no he did it better than we had even imagined; perhaps that’s because he has created and played so many of those great fiddle licks that are out there today. Really Chris and Hank just did some masterful stuff.

Heading back to Colorado I think we were all relieved and excited that we got what we came to Nashville to get. Now we are just more motivated and excited to write more and record more and keep it moving. I’m not sure exactly what we will do with the Jesse Furay Lynch project but once it’s finished I know we will all be very proud of it. Now it’s back into the studio to do vocals. Thanks to everyone who worked on this – Michael Rhodes (bass), Dan Dugmore and Chris Leuzinger (guitars, steel, dobro etc.), Pete Wasner (keys), Dennis Holt (drums), Hank Singer (fiddle), John Macy and Marc Lacuesta (sound engineers) and Quad Studios. What a blessing you all were and are.

I’m looking forward to working with them all again God willing sometime in the near future.

There’s something happening here…….

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2009

Yep, that’s right. You may never thought it would happen but it is…….Crazy Eyes! Everyday my Dad says, “I never thought in a million years that I would be playing this live!”

For the first time, The Richie Furay Band is going to play the epic, Crazy Eyes, at Nissi’s on March 13 in CO.  Yes it will be epic. We have had so much fun playing this in rehearsal. The guys have been working so hard and it flies.  9 minutes of solid music and it rocks.  Here’s a little teaser to remember how awesome this song actually is and it’s pretty evident why it’s never been attempted live before.

I hope some of you will be able to make it out for this event, but if not, God willing, we will be on the road this summer sharing it with you all.

Hope this finds you all well and hope to see you soon!

5th Annual New Year’s Eve at Rock N Soul Cafe with Richie Furay

Posted by admin on January 1st, 2009

The Rock N Soul Cafe in Boulder Colorado hosted Richie Furay and his band for the fifth consecutive year as the headlining event to bring in the new year. Rock N Soul proprietors Sam and Sheryl Radeski set a great atmosphere for what turned out to be a bit of a rock history marathon. Richie and friends brought us through a veritable history of Richie’s past and present with a glimpse into the future of what’s is store for this talented gathering of musicians. Fresh off the independent release of the live album “ALIVE” The Richie Furay Band are sounding like a tight knit unit and most importantly are visibly having fun playing music.

Scott Sellen

Richie took on a tone of storyteller throughout the show with some great insightful tales and anecdotes that some of the most avid fans may not have even been privy to prior to this evening.

It was a great night for all the members of this talented group that Richie has gathered together which is more like a family unit than a band but in particular lead Guitarist Scott Sellen blew the crowd away as he tore through lick after lick with fluidity like a knife through butter. At one moment Sellen garnered a respectful comparison from Richie to Neil Young with his adept guitar prowess.

This was a great prelude of what Richie Furay and the band will have in store in this coming year ahead!

Hey All,

Sorry I’ ve been a bit remiss in writing but with the little East Coast Tour we did and my other commitments I’ve been traveling quite a bit. Anyway wanted to let those of you who don’t know yet that The Richie Furay Band is playing a local concert this evening at the Soiled Dove. It’s a really nice venue and the people there seem really cool, we are really looking forward letting some more people hear a bit of what they can expect on the new Alive album.

I’m not sure yet how tix sales are doing, if you have to get them online or can just get them at the door.
